Dropped PRS-505 reader

To read epubs on your ipad you'll need an epub app, try the app store there are one or two.

You'll need to make sure that the app supports ADE otherwise you won't be able to read any purchased books. I believe bluefire reader does, but you'll need to check.

Also on your reader problem, I agree with carpet and the screen is broken. If you show us a picture we'll have a better idea.

The best thing to do is a full factory reset. Then you should be able to register it with Adobe.

The rebooting issue could relate to an app you've added. Has the tablet always done it or is this something new.

Tablets are not like PCs you can't reinstall the OS. Have you tried the reset button.

You will need to use the Sony reader software as digital editions doesn't work with the new readers.

When you install the software it should ask for your Adobe ID. Use the same one as used on digital editions.

You should then be able to transfer all your books using the reader software

You could try using Calibre software. It's a free but very good ebook management software.

Have you authorised your reader as well to the same ID.

I assume you mean the external SD card. I think this is a standard with all Android devices not just the Sony.

As for the SD card being pointless, I would disagree. You can put all your music, films, photos on the SD card and this will save space for apps on the internal storage

One thing though, have you tried app2SD from the play market. It moves apps to the internal SD card certainly, not sure about the external one

First, Sony has a reader app for Android tablets. You need to check and see if they also do one for Apple products, presumably available on the Apple app store.

If not then you need to find an epub reader app that supports Adobe Digital Editions. You'd then need to transfer the books to the ipad but not using the Reader for PC (or Mac) software. Bluefire Reader is one example but there will be others

To prevent unauthorised copying these films are copy right protected. It's unlikely to change any time soon.

So you'll have to keep the films on the internal storage for now

In a word no, I don't think many (if any) tablets have such a feature

But you can get an app that provides all radio stations, provided you can get a 3G or wifi signal. I use the TuneIn Radio' app from the store

I'd say no, not likely. Sony have never released firmware updates to old reader models.

No a dongle won't work but if you have a smart phone you should be able to tether it to the phone

Whether you get the new or not is up to you, but if you can afford it then get the new one.

You could get the 16gb version then buy an SD card. I went for 32 instead of 64 and then bought a 32gb SD card.

You can put films on the SD card, but as for downloading that depends on where you're getting them from. Films from either Sony or Google will go onto the internal memory

When you say reset, do you mean hard reset.

If you have purchased books using your ADE login and password and hard reset your reader it may lose the ADE authorisation. If that happens you will no longer be able to read those books.

Why not go to the Adobe website and ask for a reminder

The first thing you need to do is install Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) on your PC and set up an Adobe ID. This process will authorise your PC.

Then you plug your reader into your PC, open ADE. Then using ADE you authorise the reader.

Now any books purchased on your PC will work on your reader.

Both PC and reader must use the same Adobe ID. If they do not match, books purchased on your PC will not be readable on your reader. A reader can only be authorised to one adobe ID.

Charge it via a wall charger, leave it for a few hours, overnight would be advisable

If it still doesn't wake up after this, take it back to where you got it and get a refund or replacement

No you won't lose anything. I have 'stuck a pin in the reset button' once or twice and all was well.

However if your tablet has died you have sort of lost everything anyway as you've no access to it. So pressing the reset will improve the situation as at the very least you'll have a working tablet with nowt on it as opposed to a non functioning tablet, if you get my meaning.

Disclaimer: if your tablet wakes up after a reset and everything has gone please don't blame me

what is the difrence b/w Wall charger and charged with PC

If the PC or laptop goes to sleep with the reader plugged in the reader will discharge.

To best charge the reader fully it's preferable to leave it for a number of hours (overnight is good). PC's and laptops can fall asleep if left for a long time.

Only if your tablet is the 3G model, if so then yes I would have thought so.

There are a number of tethering apps on the market, so worth trying.

So assuming your tablet is 3G, you'd have to check with your provider to ensure that it allows tethering.

But if you're going abroad (and kids using it) the charges could be very, very expensive. Data is usually charged by the MB not time online.

You may need to do a hard reset, but this will erase all the data on the reader. So a bit of a last resort

I suggest you leave it charge overnight, use a wall charger not via your PC. It may wake up, if not try a soft reset, if that fails then you may need to do the hard reset.

Im guessing you can't. Itunes purchases are intended for Apple products only.
