why do i lose my films when i download my memory card off the nex-5N ??

download onto a mac

It may depend on the exact software that you are using to transfer to your Mac. For instance, if you are 'cutting and pasting' the files from the card to the computer, it will automatically delete them off the memory card once the transfer is complete. 'Copying and pasting' will leave the old files on the card and create duplicates on the computer.

The Finder probably isn't the best way of transferring your movies to the Mac.

If you're running a recent Mac OS (Snow Leopard onwards) you should have iMovie 11. This will import, convert and organise your movies without removing them from the card.

Just connect the camera, launch iMovie and power on the camera. Click the camera icon middle-left of the iMovie window and you should see your clips.
