While my camera was attached to my laptop I was recently in the process of downloading shots from my cybershot (memory card) but accidentally deleted all photo files from my camera - is there any way of retrieving?

I deleted from my computer thinking I was deleting part uploaded shots!

No shots had been saved to my computer and no files are currently showing on my camera so unless someone out there has a miracle cure I seem to have lost them all

    Hi raypeg,

You don't tell us which Cybershot camera you have and, more importantly, what memory card it is using.

If it is a Sony MemoryStick you may be able to recover your pictures from the Memory Card using file rescue software.

Sony provide this software free of charge.  You need to download it to a PC.  Have a look here: -

    http://support.sony-europe.com/rme/downloads/downloads.aspx?m=DSC-W90&f=MS_Rescue

If it is not a Sony memory card, then come back here as there are alternatives for other cards.

You can recover deleted photos from memory card using recovery software. Actually, when you accidentally delete a photo files they are not permanently get deleted, they are still present on memory card. Only allocation information of those photos from the file system is destroyed. So, you can easily recover those photos using recovery software. You can try this recovery software. This software supports major brands of digital cameras like Olympus, Fujifilm, Sony, Canon, Nikon etc and all types of memory cards like SD,XD,CF, MMC and memory stick etc. First download free demo version, where it will display list of recovered photos. If you find your lost photos, then you can go ahead with the full version. Make sure that you have not saved or copied any new data over memory card after photo loss.

Deleting won't make the pictures on a Sony camera erase permanently. Those deleted pictures are still stored on the memory card of your camera, they're just invisible or inaccessible. You can recover them with memory card recovery software. But once the deleted pictures were overwritten by new data, they are gone for good.

I had managed to recover deleted pictures from memory card of my Sony camera. I used this one called Tenorshare Data Recovery and it worked.Anyway, you can download it and scan your memory card for free to preview whether your files can be recovered. And you can get it from http://www.any-data-recovery.com/recover-photo.htm

By the way,it will show you the file name, type, date and size of your files and thumbnails for your pictures that it found on your card.Give it a shot!
