I have a Sony XL100 media centre, which outputs over HDMI to my Sony Bravia KDL-32V2000 and has done for many years.

I also have a Sony Bravia KDL-40W5500.  When I connect the XL100 to this using the same HDMI cable as used above, I get pictures but no audio.

This implies that there is something different between the 32v2000 and the 40W5500 in the way that it is handling the HDMI output.

1.  I am at a loss to understand why - can anyone help ?

2.  As an interim fix, I wondered about getting an HDMI to Component Video+Audio 5-RCA Cable - should this work ?

Any help or advice gratefully received.
