Robust, klein und wasserdicht - diese Eigenschaften würde man eigentlich einer Action Cam zuordnen, jedoch ist die RX0 (sowohl die mark 1 als auch die mark 2) keine Kamera dieser Sorte. In dem folgenden Artikel werde ich darauf eingehen, wo die Unterschiede liegen. Wie ihr anhand des einführenden Satzes wahrscheinlich schon merkt, ist es mir wichtig hervorzuheben, dass es sich bei der RX0m2 nicht um eine Action Cam handelt und man sie auch nicht mit Action Cams von Sony oder anderer Hersteller vergleichen sollte, da sie für einen anderen Einsatzzweck gedacht ist. Versteht mich nicht falsch, natürlich gibt es Schnittmengen - diese Schnittmengen der Einsatzgebiete sind Bereiche, bei denen man bisher nur eine Action Cam benutzt hat, weil alle anderen videofähigen Kameras zu groß waren oder an Einsatzorten, bei welchen man aufgrund von Umwelt oder Platz im Gepäck keinen Camcorder oder eine Fotokamera mit Videofunktion mitnehmen konnte oder wollte. Im Klartext - Action Cams wurden of nur genutzt, weil die RX0 noch nicht existiert hat. Neuerungen im Vergleich zum Vorgänger: Schwenk-Display Wer die RX0m1 kennt, bemerkt erst auf den zweiten Blick, dass die Kamera im Vergleich etwas dicker ist. Diese zusätzlichen Millimeter waren von Nöten um Platz für das neue Schwenk-Display zu schaffen. Es scheint sich hier technisch um das selbe Display zu handeln, welches auch im Vorgänger verbaut ist, also erwartet keine höhere Auflösung, Helligkeit oder Farbbrillanz. Jedoch befindet sich das Display diesmal an einem flachen "Arm", welcher vielseitige Einstellungen des Displays ermöglicht unter anderem auch ein Einstellen als "Selfie"-Display, sodass man sich filmen und den Bildausschnitt zeitgleich kontrollieren kann. Weitere Möglichkeiten das Display zu orientieren sind zum Beispiel nach oben oder unten um den Bildausschnitt kontrollieren zu können wenn die Kamera nahe am Boden oder oberhalb des Bedieners angebracht ist. Da ich hauptsächlich alleine Unterwegs bin und oft nicht hinter der Kamera stehe wenn ich Aufnahmen mache, ist der Selfie-Modus ein wahrer Segen, da es sonst meist schwierig ist zu sehen ob die Kamera nun richtig ausgerichtet ist oder nicht. Interne 4K-Aufnahme Mit der RX0m2 ist es endlich - und anders kann man es nicht sagen - möglich ohne externen Rekorder 4K Aufnahmen zu erstellen. Selbstverständlich gibt es hier keine Aufnahme-Beschränkung nach 29:59 Minuten, sondern die Aufnahme ist technisch unbegrenzt lange möglich oder läuft bis sich die Kamera je nach äußeren Gegebenheiten abschaltet um den Prozessor vor Überhitzung zu schützen. Die Aufnahmen sind brilliant und klar, so lange man der Kamera genug Licht zur Verfügung stellt. Durch die kleine Optik hat die Kamera aber natürlich ihre Limits. Ich war dennoch überrascht, wie gut sie mit meiner FDR AX700 mithalten kann, weswegen ich mir die RX0m2 als Erweiterung meines Kamera-Fundus vorstellen könnte. Proxy Aufnahme Dieses Feature ist meiner Meinung nach weitestgehend unterschätzt bzw. wird ihm viel zu wenig Beachtung geschenkt (sowohl bei potenziellen Kunden, als auch in Sonys eigenem Marketing). Was ist Proxy-Aufnahme überhaupt? Proxy-Dateien werden bei der Aufnahme parallel zu den höher Qualitativen 1080p- oder 4K-Dateien erstellt und sind einfach gesagt inhaltlich identische Videodateien mit geringerer Auflösung und Datenrate, welche man in Video-Schnittprogrammen für einen weniger leistungsintensiven Workflow zum Schneiden der Videos nutzen kann. Bisher war es nur möglich solche Dateien im Videoschnittprogramm erstellen zu lassen, was ein einmaliges Verarbeiten aller importierten Videodateien erfordert hat und man somit erst einige Minuten oder Stunden warten musste, bevor man mit dem Videoschnitt beginnen konnte. Mit Proxy-Dateien, welche schon in der Kamera erstellt werden spart man also wertvolle Zeit. Wenn es darum geht das fertige Video zu exportieren ersetzt man einfach die Proxy-Dateien im Speicher-Verzeichnis mit den hochqualitativen 1080p oder 4K Videodateien und klickt "rendern". Erst jetzt verarbeitet das Videoschnittprogramm die Dateien, welche viel Rechenleistung und damit Zeit erfordern. Da aber das Rendering im Vergleich zum Videoschnitt einen unglaublich kleinen Prozentsatz der Zeit beansprucht bedeutet das auch keinen Beinbruch mehr, da man zuvor sicherlich ein Vielfaches an Zeit eingespart hat. Im semi-professionellen oder professionellen Bereich schickt man Video-Cuttern welche in einer anderen Lokation sitzen unter anderem auch die Proxy-Dateien, sodass diese mit dem Schnitt beginnen können, bevor der Uplaod/Download der sehr viel größeren Quell-Dateien abgeschlossen ist. Weitere Features: Keine verzerrende Weitwinkel Linse Wie Eingangs erwähnt ist die RX0m2 keine Action Cam und besitzt somit auch kein Weitwinkel-Objektiv. Action Cams besitzen solche Linsen und diese haben aufgrund des Weitwinkels eine sogenannte Linsenkrümmung. Diese sorgt am Bildrand für eine Krümmung von Objekten. Bäume, Schilder oder Hauswände sind plötzlich gebogen. Wen das stört muss die Linsenkrümmung im Schnittprogramm/in der Kamera herausrechnen, sorgt aber dann für Unschärfen nahe am Bildrand oder einer Reduzierung der Auflösung (wenn in zusätzlich leicht in die Bildmitte gezoomt wird). Sollte man also mit einer Action Cam versuchen einen krümmungsfreien Bildeindruck zu erzielen, kommt man nicht an das standardmäßige Ergebnis der RX0 heran, bei deren Videoaufnahmen von Haus aus nichts gebogen ist und somit bis ins letzte Eck alles "knacken" Scharf ist. Kontrolle über den Fokus Des weiteren sind die Linsen von Action Cams auch sogenannte "Fixed Focus" Linsen. Dies bedeutet, dass es einen gewissen "Mindesfokusabstand" gibt. Alles was sich näher an der Linse und somit an der Kamera befindet ist somit unscharf, alles was weiter weg ist ist scharf. Jeder, der auf ein Bokeh wert legt und gerne mit der Schärfentiefe spielt sollte sich also lieber die RX0 zulegen. Hier kann man fokussieren und somit einen interessanteren Bildeindruck erzielen. Log-Aufnahmen Ich hatte schon oberhalb erwähnt, dass ich die RX0m2 gerne zusammen mit meiner FDR AX700 benutzen würde und ich fand es sehr schade, als ich das Leihgerät wieder zurück geben musste. Einer der Gründe, welcher mir während meines Test viel Spaß bereitet hat war die Möglichkeit Bildprofile wählen zu können und somit auch Aufnahmen im Log-Farbraum (u.a. S-Log2) zu erstellen, welche man später einem Color-Grading unterziehen kann. Somit kann man das Videomaterial der Kameras noch genauer angleichen und den Gesamteindruck gedrehter Videos verbessern. Anschlüsse Über das Display an der Rückseite der Kamera habe ich oberhalb schon viel geschrieben. Die Anschlüsse direkt daneben sind nun an der Reihe. Von oben nach unten verbergen sich unter einer vollständig entfernbaren Klappe (siehe oben) ein Micro-HDMI, ein MULTI-/USB-Anschluss sowie ein 3,5mm Klinkenanschluss für Mikrofone oder externe Audioquellen. Über ein Micro-HDMI-Kabel kann man entweder einen externen Monitor anschließen oder zum Beispiel eine Video-Capture-Card um die RX0 als Webcam zu nutzen. Externe Video-Rekorder sind natürlich wie beim Vorgänger auch eine Option. Der MULTI-/USB-Anschluss erlaubt neben dem Aufladen auch den Anschluss verschiedener Steuerungs-Kabel um die Kamera fernbedienen zu können. Bei dem 3,5mm Klinkenstecker gefiel mir besonders zu sehen, dass der "Abknickschutz" den man statt der Klappe hinten an die Kamera anstecken kann eine Aussparung für gewinkelte Klinkenstecker besitzt. Das war zwar schon bei der RX0m1 der Fall, jedoch fand ich dieses Detail durchaus erwähnenswert. Alles in allem fand ich die RX0m1 auch schon sehr interessant, war aber froh, dass ich mir sie nicht gekauft habe, bevor die RX0m2 herausgekommen ist. Für mich persönlich sind die neuen Features - das schwenkbare Display sowie die interne 4K-Aufnahme - so gute Verbesserungen im Vergleich zum Vorgänger, dass ich mir zum aktuellen Zeitpunkt eher die mark 2 zulegen würde.

Zunächst habe ich gezögert, ob diese kleine Kamera in der Praxis im Hinblick auf die Bedienbarkeit brauchbar ist. Mittlerweile bin ich davon sehr begeistert. Gewiss - wenn man man ständig alles manuell einstellen möchte, dann ist das schon mühsam. Aber dafür ist die RX0 II meiner Meinung auch nicht gemacht, dafür eignet sich eine Systemkamera besser. Aber: Wenn man unterwegs ist, nicht viel dabei haben will, dann ist sie ein toller Begleiter. Speziell auf Städtetouren macht es Spaß, damit Fotos zu schießen. Die Qualität der Bilder ist sehr gut und dank des relativ großen Sensors kann man an den Bildern auch noch am PC notfalls Änderungen vornehmen.

If this camera would have had bulb mode, I would buy more of them without blinking. Dear product team, please note that bulb mode doesn't have to be unlimited, I understand that the sensor might get damaged, but 1min or even 30s would be enough, even 10s if is not possible more. This feature Is VERY VERY useful to control exactly when the exposure stops. Please consider adding it in a future firmware update!

I bought the RX02 to use in places where regular cameras die!!...I take pictures of mainly dogs in water and dusty environments...so far it's handled everything flawlessly and produced crisp balanced images

Acheté il y a moins d'un mois, utilisée avec précautions. Mais j'ai oublié une fois de débrancher la fiche de connexion du trépied à la caméra =>fiche tordue et boitier abimé = 230€ de réparations. Mon idée première était d'acheter une inst360 ou une gopro, je regrette un peu surtout avec une télécommande. Le kit n'est pas abouti, une fois connecté il n'y a plus d'étanchéité. A 800 € le kit, on pourrait attendre beaucoup mieux !

Mit den heutigen Smartphones, die man eigentlich (fast) immer dabei hat, kann man schon sehr gute Fotos machen, auch Filme sind kein Problem. Möchte man aber auch Fotos machen, die man nachher bearbeiten und auch entsprechend vergrößer kann, so bleibt nur eine Kamera übrig. Ich besitze neben einer (alten) digitalen Spiegelreflexkamera noch die Sony a6000, mit der ich sehr zufrieden bin, die aber nicht mal eben in die Tasche gesteckt werden kann. Gerade bei Bergtouren zeigt die Kleine, was sie leisten kann. Natürlich gibt es kein Teleobjektiv, und auch die Festbrennweite hat ihre Nachteile. Aber mit dem recht nahen Abstand zum Objekt und der Möglichkeit, aufgrund des 1 Zoll Sensors auch digital zu vergrößern, gleicht diesen Nachteil aus. Ein kontinuierlicher Autofokus gerade beim Filmen wäre noch das i-Tüpfelchen gewesen. Die Robusheit und die Größe, die diese Kamera bietet, ist für Bergtouren ideal, also genau meine Kamera.

It's a great little camera to have for vlogging and documentation. The quality is on par with some larger cameras and the audio is pretty good for an internal microphone. There are just a few aspects where I feel Sony is out of date. Firstly, the menu system is a bit much for a camera of this size. I do understand why it's there, but I also believe that a lot of the available options go unused. A simpler touch menu system would be a better choice if possible. Secondly, with other cameras supporting USB-C I don't understand why this camera does not. The majority of my equipment now uses this standard so I find it inconvenient to have to carry around a micro USB cable only for this camera. Lastly is the app. I don't use it. It's buggy and does a terrible job of transferring data. I've run tests and a 10sec clip would take me upwards of a minute to transfer. Instead, I just transfer media the traditional way with my SD card. I really enjoy this camera for the most part. I find it to be really handy in tight situations. But I think there were a lot of missed opportunities here. A few minor tweaks could make this camera 10x better.

Die RC0 II zählt zu meinem Sony-Foto-Equipment, wobei dieser ingeniöse Fotokubus mein ständiger Begleiter ist. Er ist nicht nur ausgesprochen handlich, sondern ermöglicht mit seinem 24 mm Objektiv fast alle Aufnahmeoptionen in einer herausragenden Qualität. Es ist eine digitale Kamera, allerdings im handlichen Miniaturformat, die weniger zum "Knipsen", sondern vielmehr zum Fotografieren konzipiert und bestimmt ist, d.h. zur bewussten, überlegten Bildgestaltung.

Endlich habe ich einen Nachfolger für die damalige Contax-T in Kompaktheit und Schärfe gefunden! In das Stativgewinde habe ich einen Zubehör-/Blitzschuh geschraubt, darin ist ein optischer Sucher von Leica mit den Leuchtrahmen von 24 und 35 mm befestigt. So habe ich unter allen Bedingungen immer ein klares Bild. Auf die Linkstaste habe ich die Videofunktion gelegt und auf die Eingabetaste die Zoomfunktion. So kann ich auch ohne Brille die für mich wichtigsten Funktionen benutzen ohne durch das vielseitige Menu suchen zu müssen.

Très bon achat, super compact avec une très bonne qualité que ce soit en photo ou vidéo. En vidéo, bien mieux qu’un go pro. Seuls bémols pour moi, pas de afc, batteries il faut en avoir 3 ou 4 pour bien apprécier, le zoom qualité perfectible en fond de zoom.

Bei meiner gerade abschlossenen Südamerikareise hat mir die RXO II gute Dienste erwiesen. Überall, wo die ebenfalls verwendete AX 100 zu sperrig war, konnte die RXO II ohne Probleme mitgeführt werden. Interessant war der Einsatz des Griffs VCT-SGR1, der eine schnelle Umschaltung von Bild auf Video gestattete.

I waited years before I re-entered the photography/videography field. I'm glad that I waited and this camera became available. The BIONZ X, like it's big brothers, is so versatile. Totally manual to completely Automatic and every place inbetween. The 4K is beautiful and the stills are just brilliant. The Action Camera still has it's reigning KING. Sell all your plastic uni-body black, silver, 3,4,5,6,7. They are obsolete. This little powerhouse is built tough. Picture quality, Zeiss perfect. I'm so glad I never bought any of the inferior so-called action cameras with 50/50 reviews. Who wants to gambel with this kind of camera? Not me! My everything camera, Thank You Sony. You've outdone yourselves again.

Over all features are great, This camera could be the perfect rugged pocket camera/action camera if it has an internal zoom lens , maybe a 24-35 mm lens or a 24-50 mm lens , where you can take portraits, snapshots and landscape where ever you go. Will also become perfect for making cinematic videos with different prime focal lengths which you can access by adding zoom buttons. A worry free travel ,where you can shoot anywhere without worrying about your camera.

I'd first like to mention that I received this camera from Sony as part of their ambassador program, but all thoughts are my own. I spend a lot of my time outside in nature all over the world. I live for adventurous activities and documenting these experiences in both photo and video form. I also like the option of packing light in certain situations (ie. Hiking for hours on end). Sometimes I'm in situations where having a large camera and rig prevents me from getting the shot especially when people are involved. Big cameras can be intimidating! This camera is great for being discreet and takes up very little room in my camera bag...or any bag (I can easily throw it into my purse or small backpack), even with the grip attached. I LOVE that it has a flip screen. Seriously, if this camera can have a flip screen, why can't the A7 series or A9? As a vlogger, flip screens are a HUGE plus. The fact that the camera is water and dust proof makes it a great travel buddy for every type of adventure. The fact that the RX0 II comes equipped with a mic jack, so you can attach an external mic is also very impressive. Again, why can this be done with this super small camera but not the RX100 series? Overall, I'd highly recommend this camera to anyone who is looking for a small but mighty all-purpose action camera to add to their tool kit.

It takes really good photos and video's but needs work. Gets confused with high contrast photos, like a bright sky behind the subject, but worst of all not continuous auto focus. If you start a video pointed at yourself and then point the camera towards something or someone else at a different distance, it or they are Out Of Focus.

Two years ago, I put a complete iPhone video production package into a single shoulder bag. This week, I eliminated the shoulder bag, creating an even better 4K shooting package that is virtually weightless. We are indeed in a new golden age of miniaturization. I have been on a mission to find the lightest gear package available because of back problems acquired from lugging around gigantic RCA TK-76 and early Sony Betacam cameras in the 1970s and 80s. Though production gear has been getting steadily lighter over time, it was 2019 that it hit a new tipping point. It all starts with Sony’s new RX0 II ($699), tiny video/still camera weighing about four ounces. It captures stunning images, even in low light, with a one-inch sensor and low-distortion Zeiss Tessar T f/4 lens with an 84-degree angle of view and 2x zoom. This camera features internal 4K video recording, a stereo microphone jack, excellent image stabilization, serious slo-mo capability, a 7.9-inch minimum focus distance and a 180-degree tilt-able 1.5-inch LCD screen. This camera is so tiny it screams “Wow!” The size is a remarkable 2.3 x 1.6 x 1.4-inches. It fits in any bag and is virtually weightless. It records to a microSD card and has an ISO range of 80 to 12,800. On top of this, it is shockproof and crushproof with a duralumin body designed to be dropped from 6.5 feet. The camera has an IP68 rating, making it waterproof in fresh and saltwater without a housing up to 33-feet in depth. There's no need to safeguard it against rainwater and it also shoots comfortably in desert settings with sand and dust. A useful optional accessory is the Sony VCT-SGR1 Shooting Grip, which has integrated controls to allow users to trip the shutter release and operate the record button and the camera's zoom from the grip itself. The shooting grip can also be converted for use as a tabletop tripod. Shooting at frame rates of up to 960fps/1000fps captures split-second 4K action. The camera's new interval recording feature enables continuous shooting with a set interval between one and 60 seconds. The anti-distortion shutter is capable of shutter speeds of up to 1/32,000 sec. and is designed to minimize the rolling shutter phenomenon, which can distort images of fast-moving objects. With the Picture Profiles feature and S-Log, users can set the overall tone of video from the camera body, adjusting parameters that affect the final look of the video Sony also makes an optional Camera Control Box (CCB-WD1) that can simultaneously control multiple cameras, monitoring and changing settings remotely from a connected PC. This provides a stable connection to the cameras to facilitate accurate multi-camera synchronization, and it allows immediate file transfer from the cameras for easier file management. A nice accessory for pro users is the SmallRig 2106 camera cage for the Sony RX0/RX0-II. It provides endless accessory mounting options (microphones, lights etc.) while maintaining access to the camera's controls. The camera just slides into it for a perfect fit. A 37mm thread is built into the front of the cage for mounting a filter or compatible lens. One cold shoe, multiple ¼”-20 and 3/8"-16 threads, and one integrated ARRI anti-twist thread are provided for attaching accessories. The bottom of the 2106 Cage takes the form of an Arca-Swiss style plate, enabling users to quickly mount the camera on a compatible tripod head. This cage is constructed from lightweight, sturdy aluminum and includes a 1/4"-20 camera screw and an Allen wrench. It weighs 3.5 ounces. While on the subject of miniaturization, RØDE’s new Wireless Go, first shown at the recent NAB, is the perfect addition for this new compact kit. The Wireless GO is the world’s smallest wireless microphone system. The transmitter works as both a clip-on mic or as a tiny beltpack for a lav, sending broadcast-grade audio via 2.4GHz digital transmission to the ultra-compact on-camera receiver. It is priced at $199. The miniaturization of production video has made great strides to the point that any smaller would be difficult for humans to use. It has taken almost 45 years to get here, but for the one-person journalist, documentation or freelancer, it is a new era of convenience and ease of use. Super tools are now available, it only takes the skills to use them.

Sony did a great job of packing so many features into such a small camera. I love the high quality video and images that it produces. It's low light performance is surprisingly good with little noise for its size. My favorite features of this camera is the flip screen and time-lapse feature.
